Willow Glen II
Laurel Canyon - Los Angeles, CA
This project was delivered as a fully integrated design and build renovation, with the house taken down to the studs and rebuilt with a clear focus on clarity, efficiency, and long term performance. The goal was not to reinvent the architecture, but to refine it by correcting past alterations, upgrading all systems, and restoring coherence to the original spatial intent.
The layout was carefully reworked to strengthen indoor outdoor connections and improve flow between living, dining, and kitchen spaces. Structure, light, and proportion guided every decision. New glazing, insulation, and mechanical systems were integrated discreetly to improve comfort and efficiency without compromising the simplicity of the design.
Custom millwork and built ins were designed as architectural elements, using warm wood tones and restrained detailing to maintain a calm, timeless interior. Bathrooms and private spaces were rebuilt with the same discipline, prioritizing function, durability, and quiet material expression.
Exterior spaces were reshaped as extensions of the interior, creating usable patios and gathering areas that reinforce the relationship between the house and its landscape. As a design and build project, maintaining alignment between intent and execution was critical, allowing decisions to balance design integrity, constructability, and cost in real time.
The result is a cohesive rebuild that feels deliberate, modern, and enduring, grounded in restraint rather than excess.
